Hello
I work for the Institute of Physics where I run a programme of activities aimed at giving as many people as possible a positive experience of physics.
One of the project ideas I'm currently working on is the development of some resources to encourage book groups to choose books with a significant amount of physics in them - the books could be fact or fiction as long as the science is correct (ie not sci-fi books). The resources would be along the lines of a synopsis of the book, an interview with the author, some questions to get readers thinking, some answers to common questions and suggested further reading. And since we're a member organisation, I'm also interested in seeing whether we could offer book groups the opportunity to invite a friendly physicist along to their meeting to join in the discussions.
So, my question is, would something like this encourage you and your group to choose a physicsy book for a change? Or is there anything else that would?
I'd be really interested to find out whether you think this idea is a goer or not.
Thanks for your help
Caitlin
